A vote also for the brownies (and anything) for someone who has had a miscarriage (or failed ivf cycle, for that matter). Someone got us that and I remember feeling so grateful. I’m also with you on the lemon squeezer!! Seriously game changing in the kitchen department. No more lemon in cuts on my hands, hurrah 🙌
Oh, how I feel the same. I’ve taken an extended break from all things social while I try to figure out how to make it feel okay again, I’d love to read that post if you do write it.
We had a decade of fertility treatments (how I came across your writing) and I set up my business www.the-kitsch-hen.co.uk because I wanted there to be a better, more thoughtful, edible postal gift for someone going through the s**t show of miscarriage and infertility. It’s been a life raft for me over the last 10 years to help people send ‘hugs in biscuits’ through the post to someone they love when there aren’t any right words. ❤️
I also do love a gower cottage brownie too though!
Oh I love this idea of a "like" list instead of a "gratitude" list. Trying to make a "gratitude" list always makes me feel like I'm failing at life. Like I should be able to think of things I'm grateful for, even when I'm having a shitty day. But I can always think of something I like!
Welcome back! I’ve missed your posts :-D I have the same habit of giving brownies for miscarriage- we seem to be so aligned here. I love these particularly https://www.gowercottagebrownies.co.uk/
I’m with Louise- Brownies for the win, we got sent some too. Jennie this list is glorious, I love it. Best book for escapism for me is still Harry Potter, but best non fiction is ‘everything Is Washable’ by Sali Hughes. I’ve read it probably 7 times, its like a hig from a big sister xx
So with you on the brownies! I have been meaning to write something about this myself. After my first and second miscarriages completely different friends (who don't know each other) sent me brownies. After my third I baked a double batch myself- one for me and one for a friend who had also just had a miscarriage. There is something just right about them - ultimate decadence and lack of nutritional value at a time when you have probably been being super healthy is definitely part of it. I now send these ones https://www.homemadeandmoreish.com/
Once again, you write what I think. You might’ve noticed my existential crisis and silence on insta this last almost year. I do miss the connection like this though. Thank you for your posts- please do write those two you have swirling around your head!
Also I LOVE this list.
Two things I often recommend: no 7 protect and perfect lip care to help in winter and this garlic crusher (?!): NexTrend garlic twist xx

Another vote here for the brownies or any ‘I’m thinking of you’ gift after a miscarriage.
Great call on the recognition of grief for a failed fertility treatment cycle Louise!
Also, I’m about to go google Parlux hairdryers right now as desperately need to upgrade my cheap department store one!

French 75 is 100% the best cocktail ever invented. Correct. As soon as I read that I thought YES; this person is wisdom personified.
